Alva Ray Oakley

Alva Ray “Shine” Oakley 93 of Providence passed away August 4, 2018 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.  He is the son of the late Clyde & Vaden Oakley.  He is preceded in death by his wife Maudell (Green) Oakley.  He is survived by his sons; Perry & wife JoJo Oakley, Kerry & wife Bonnie Oakley, 4 grandchildren; Perry Ray (Amy) Oakley of Dixon, KY, Keely Oakley of Providence, KY, Dusty (Chuck) Lynn of Nashville, TN, Kam (Cory) Davis of Hanson, KY, 6 great grandchildren Gabe, Kendall, Ella, Paden, Kaylee, & Karson.    Alva was long time member, past Sunday school teacher, and Deacon at Providence General Baptist Church.  He also spent 32 years with UMWA at Island Creek Coal Company.  Alva was a friend to many and will be missed greatly.   Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm Monday and from 12 noon to 2pm Tuesday in the Chapel at Jones Kirby Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Cullen officiating services at 2pm with burial to follow in Big Hill Cemetery in Providence.  Jones Kirby Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
