Mildred L. Clayton, 93 of Providence, passed away on Wednesday, June 6 in Sebree.
She was born on March 3, 1919 in Bicknell, Indiana to Raymond and Hazel Gentry.
The family moved to Kentucky when Mildred was a child.
She and Robert Lee Clayton were married on Sept. 26, 1935 in Shawneetown and lived in Providence since 1951.
Mildred was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and taking care of her family.
She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Providence.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband in 1979 and by 5 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter Doris and husband Delano Creasey of Providence, a son Ronald and wife Connie Clayton of Manitou. Two grandchildren Beverly Crowell and Annette Parsons. Four great grandchildren Victoria Crowell Wheeler, Robert A. Parsons, Brandon S. Parsons and Makayla Parsons. One great great granddaughter Khloe Parsons.
6 brothers, Joe Gentry of Shelbyville, Ky, Ray Gentry of LaPorte, Tx., Terry Gentry of Telford, Pa. Doug Gentry, Sammy Gentry and Lonnie Gentry all of Owensboro.
Six sisters Margaret Todd and Faye Alexander of Madisonville, Gaye White of Crofton, Ky, Evelyn Rivet of Marion, IL, Louise Rickard of Morton’s Gap and Debbie Carroll of Burlington, Ky.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 11 AM at Jones & Erdman in Providence with pastors John Rasel and Kim Hudson officiating. Interment will be in the family plot of Shady Grove Cemetery in Crittenden County.
Visitation is on Friday from 5 to 8 PM and on Saturday from 9 AM to service time at the funeral home.
