Sharon C Layton

Sharon C. Layton, 65 of Providence passed away at her residence on May 7, 2017. She was employed with the Providence Independent School System for 34 years. After retiring, she joined the City of Providence as City Clerk for 4 years. Among her many accomplishments she was a member Pakendall Beta and the Providence Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of the Tirzah Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father Curtis J. Cairel, mother Pauline B. Cairel and brother Curtis T. (Tim) Cairel. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael S. Layton, 2 sons Steven C. Layton (Shannon Cole-Layton) and Clay H. Layton, 6 grandchildren, Tristan Layton, Hailey McKinsey, Colby Clark, Will Layton, Carter Layton and Cooper Layton, 1 brother, Keith Cairel and 1 sister Becky Cairel. Visitation will be Tuesday4-8pm and Wednesday from 11-2pm with the service at 2pm in the chapel of Jones Kirby Funeral Home. Graveside at Lakeview Cemetery.
