Wilber Smith Obituary

Wilber Eugene Smith, 81, of Providence passed away on April 29, 2019 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.   He is the son of the late Ruben, Lulu Scott, &  Agnes (Purdy) Smith.  He is also preceded in death by a son James Smith and sister Wilma Brewer.  Wilber is survived by his loving wife Claudia (Cain) Smith of 60 years, son Nick Smith, daughters; Debbie Newman & Brenda Lamb, brother Jewell (Pat) Smith, sisters; Marcie (Bill) Plunkett & Janet (George) Ozee, several nieces, nephews, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and his beloved pets.  Wilber was in the U.S. Airforce for 4 years then joining the U.S. Army where he retired after 21 years.  He also worked and retired from the mining industry around the Providence area and the Pantry in Providence.  Visitation will be in the Chapel of Jones Kirby Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2pm to 6pm with Bro. Ronnie Cullen conducting services at 6pm.   There will be a Full Military Honors service at 2pm  Thursday  at Kentucky’s Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville where burial will take place.   Online condolences and more can be made at www.joneskirby.com
